Painful menstruation

Dysmenorrhea, also known as painful periods, or menstrual cramps, is pain during menstruationIts usual onset occurs around the time that menstruation begins. The pain is usually in the pelvis or lower abdomen. Other symptoms may include back pain, diarrhea or nausea.

How can the physiotherapy help?

First, an evaluation will be done by the physiotherapist, where your posture, muscle strength and pelvic floor muscles will be evaluated.

The pelvic floor physiotherapy gives us a wide variety of tools that we can use to decrease the pain and have better living conditions during our period. 

After that we will create a personalized treatment for you, that may include:

  • Kinesiotape.
  • Transcutaneous electrical electrostimulation (TENS).
  • Massage.
  • Manual therapy.
  • Physical exercise.
